There is also a special choice called Legends. You can buy the cards of Legends or ask your friends to send you. Those Legends, like Washington, Catherine, Columbus, etc. are like the guardians in your civilization because they have different influences on your city. For example, Washington can help you boost 150% attack for 2 day while Archimedes can reduce current research time by 12 hours. If you have collected 5 same type of Legends, you will be awarded some extra gifts.
Anyway, City of Wonder is also a social game. If you want to expand your map in the game, you need as many allies as possible to do so. When you friends join in your allies, you will get a special gift – embassy. From the embassy, you are able to obtain some coins as a reward after your allies visit your city. In the meantime, the embassy will increase the happiness of your people. Besides, some small events will be touched off once in a while among allies. When you happen to meet the occasional event, just help your friends to deal with it. With the advancement of level up and research, your civilization gradually enters from stone age into bronze age.
