Facebook Game: Little War Review

When it comes to the city building games on Facebook, it is natural to be addictive in various themes, among which Little War is a localized version from China-based social game developer Five Minutes. Little War takes the city building genre into the theme of wild tribe in Stone Age with cute anime-style graphics and amusing tribe war.

In Little War, you are appointed as a tribe chief tasked with developing your tribe from a small group of straw huts to a powerful community in Stone Age. In the vacant space, you build different constructions to enhance your tribe. There are totally six categories of constructions: Dwelling, Production, Training, Deco, Wonder and Facility.

Tribe Sometimes, you may find that your tribe has reached the population cap. To avoid this problem, you have to build more dwellings used to increase the population capacity. Production facilities are used to produce food, which you need to issue the order for the needed produce amount and time cost. Food, the basic and main resource in the game, can either exchange the decorations or spend in training the troops. Each time you lack food, you can choose to produce 10 foods in five minutes. It is an easy way to collect food quickly if you are online. However, you can’t get any EXP in this way. Additionally, you can also use hourglass available in the item store to shorten the time.

In order to increase the population cap, constructions play an important role. On one hand, you can create special facilities which can be upgraded to add more pop cap in the tribe, such as Well, Meat Cooking Site, WonderTextile Mill and more. On the other hand, decorations are used for both designing the tribe and increasing pop cap. As long as you have enough food, you can exchange the decorations without a level limit.

As one of the main features, you can construct such great world’s wonders like Stonehenge, Babel and Hanging Garden. They not only look prettier but also have useful abilities. With the completed wonders, you are able to use some special magic powers based on yourself and your friends’ tribes. For example, if you build a Trojan horse wonder, the magic called Ambush is available to play tricks on your neighbors by hiding some of your combat power in a battle. If you build the Animal Bone Hut, you can use the Beat Horn to attract beasts to appear around the woods or the brook daily, especially T-Rex. Killing the beasts provides you the resources like food, exp, and building materials. Meanwhile, T-Rex drops Agate which is the most important and rare building material only found in the item shop. With the building materials, you can upgrade the facilities and wonders for more useful advantages.

Interaction Another gameplay is to train your troops and colonize others’ tribes. Building the training facilities, here you can train your warriors which are consumables in the colony war. Although the battles in Little War are not as frequent and fierce as those in other browser-based strategy games, the wars with neighbors are still one of the main features in the game. Wage a war and capture the tribe. After occupying the tribe, the colony has to pay you the certain amount of food as a tax during occupation.

As a social game, the interaction in Little War is very interesting. Besides the free resource gifts and instant story sharing, you can help kill the beasts wandering in neighbors’ tribes or compete for the achievement you’ve got. If you are occupied, you can either call your friends for help to release the colony from your lord or train your soldier to revolt against the ruler. In the meantime, both lord and colony are able to interact with each other every day, ranging from playing tricks to giving praise.

As a city building game, Little War is a successful social game mixing with the strategy game elements. Construct a powerful society with a group of colonies in Stone Age. In Little War, you are a tribe chief, a ruler, as well as an empire king.
