Imagine evony got together with farmville and threw in some storyline and you have Rockage. Combining build & conquer elements with your more relaxed levelling up of a farm. This allows you to supplicate your empire with your very own crops under your control!
You are able to level up your buildings to unlock new features, while researching technologies and raising a mighty army to crush your opposition. The best way to ensure a bit of a boost is to join a tribe, allowing you to take advantage of safety in numbers. Then you are free to go out into the world to capture wildlands and other cities to be able to boost yourself and your empire ever higher!
Obviously this is a game for the more casual player, allowing you to only put in a few minutes play as and when you can, whilst still building up quite a wide influence. However, the more serious player can easily boost their playing experience with mall items to all nigh-continuous play.
Graphically the game appears a lot sharper than other games (such as Evony), with imagery fitting to the time period it’s set in. All graphics keep pretty cartoony, however it fits pretty well with the light-hearted nature of the game as a whole.
There is plenty of play time here, allowing you to expand your empire for as long/as far as you’d like. You can even conquer the capital city of each region, allowing you to become supreme overlord of the area. If that isn’t enough of a lure to get you levelling, I don’t know what is!
It’s pretty easy to get lost playing this game. You think you’ll take a look, then you complete 5 quests in as many minutes. The whole thing just snowballs in this way, with more and more quests becoming available and being completed as you go along. Before you realise it, you have a thriving empire and feel guilty for leaving it alone!
It’s a promising game (only in the pre-beta stages at the time of writing) but it will definitely need to reach further before it truly rivals some of the big players in this market already. However I have the feeling the current version is merely a foundation to build more features upon.
Editor’s Note: Rockage Online has just been released on Facebook.com. Since it’s still in Alpha Stage, the developer told us they would like you to participate the Alpha Testing. Seems like an interesting game with nice graphics.
I started playing last year sometime after the release. This is an awesome game with a whole lot of features to keep me occupied as long as I want to keep playing. I really like the power cards a player has the option to use and the chat feature is pretty nice. I’m a die hard Ikariam player and fan, but this one is a bit better and fun. I can’t wait to see what the programmers have in store for this game next.
